On November 17, 2025, Dr. Truong Thanh Nam, MD, PhD, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP), paid a visit and held a working session with the Institute of Nutrition and the ASEAN Institute for Health Development at Mahidol University (Thailand), with the aim of promoting international cooperation in education and scientific research.

The visit took place at Mahidol University, one of the leading medical education institutions in the ASEAN region. The primary objective was to exchange experiences and explore opportunities for in-depth collaboration between the Faculty of Public Health of CTUMP and affiliated units of Mahidol University. The working session was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thunwadee Suksarol, Director of the ASEAN Institute for Health Development, together with Dr. Thanit Vinitchagoon, representing the Institute of Nutrition.

Mahidol University warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed a high level of openness toward prospects for bilateral cooperation. The discussions focused on potential collaboration in education, scientific research, and the organization of international conferences and workshops in the future. In particular, two core priority areas—Public Health and Nutrition—were emphasized, with the shared goal of improving the quality of the health workforce in both countries.

Visit the facilities of Nutrition Institute

As part of the visit, Dr. Truong Thanh Nam conducted site visits to teaching facilities at Mahidol University. He toured the Nutrition and Dietetics practice laboratories, the experimental kitchen area, and the entire system of modern equipment. The purpose was to learn from Mahidol University’s experience in organizing and operating facilities that support teaching and advanced research for nutrition students. These exchanges of experience are of great value for the development of training programs and for enhancing the quality of practical education for CTUMP students. The visit not only strengthened the relationship between the two universities but also opened up many practical opportunities for CTUMP faculty members and students to access an international academic environment.
