Căn cứ Biên bản ghi nhớ (MoU) được ký kết ngày 03/3/2025 giữa Ban Chủ nhiệm Khoa Y, Trường Đại học Y Dược Cần Thơ và Viện nghiên cứu khoa học Liên bang về nhiễm trùng virus, Nga đồng thời thực hiện kế hoạch làm việc số 138/KH-ĐHYDCT.KY ngày 14/11/2025 về việc tiếp và làm việc với đoàn chuyên gia đến từ Viện nghiên cứu khoa học Liên bang về nhiễm trùng virus, Nga, Bộ môn Vi sinh – Ký sinh trùng đã triển khai chuỗi hoạt động nghiên cứu khoa học chuyên sâu với nhiều kết quả tích cực.

Chuyến làm việc đoàn chuyên gia kéo dài 02 tuần, từ ngày 30/11 đến ngày 14/12, với mục tiêu thúc đẩy các nội dung hợp tác đã thống nhất trong MoU. Đoàn công tác do Giáo sư, Tiến sĩ Tarek M. Itani làm trưởng đoàn, cùng ba chuyên gia người Nga trong lĩnh vực phân tích số liệu và nghiên cứu virus học.

Hoạt động trọng tâm của đợt làm việc này là triển khai đề tài nghiên cứu về “Tỷ lệ mắc bệnh và đặc điểm của các virus gây viêm dạ dày ruột trong tiêu chảy cấp ở trẻ em tại Cần Thơ”. Nhóm nghiên cứu là sự phối hợp giữa Bộ môn Vi sinh – Ký sinh trùng, các bác sĩ lâm sàng của bệnh viện thực hành và nhóm chuyên gia Liên bang Nga. Các bước nghiên cứu được thực hiện bài bản, bao gồm thu thập mẫu bệnh phẩm trên bệnh nhi tiêu chảy cấp, xử lý và bảo quản mẫu theo tiêu chuẩn an toàn sinh học, định danh virus bằng kỹ thuật PCR và giải trình tự gene. Đề cương nghiên cứu đã được sự thông qua của Hội đồng đạo đức trong nghiên cứu y sinh của trường Đại học y dược Cần Thơ. Kết quả bước đầu thu được cho thấy những tín hiệu khả quan, mở ra nhiều triển vọng cho việc mở rộng quy mô nghiên cứu trong thời gian tới.

Thông qua các kết quả nghiên cứu ban đầu, đoàn chuyên gia đã chuyển giao quy trình thử nghiệm và chuẩn hóa kỹ thuật cho các thành viên nhóm nghiên cứu thuộc Bộ môn Vi sinh – Ký sinh trùng. Hoạt động này góp phần nâng cao năng lực chuyên môn, giúp đội ngũ cán bộ giảng dạy, nghiên cứu của bộ môn nói riêng và nhà trường nói chung từng bước làm chủ các kỹ thuật sinh học phân tử tiên tiến.

Bên cạnh hoạt động nghiên cứu và chuyển giao kỹ thuật, đoàn chuyên gia còn tham gia một số buổi thảo luận khoa học chuyên đề nhằm đánh giá kết quả bước đầu của đề tài và trao đổi về các cơ hội hợp tác trong tương lai. Các buổi làm việc tập trung vào việc mở rộng nghiên cứu các tác nhân virus, vi khuẩn, vi nấm gây bệnh phổ biến tại Việt nam, tăng cường công bố khoa học quốc tế và xây dựng các chương trình đào tạo, trao đổi học thuật giữa hai bên.

Đáng chú ý, trong khuôn khổ chuyến công tác, đoàn chuyên gia đã đến gặp gỡ và trao đổi với Giáo sư, Tiến sĩ, Bác sĩ Nguyễn Trung Kiên – Hiệu trưởng Trường Đại học Y Dược Cần Thơ về các định hướng hợp giữa Trường và Viện trong tương lai, đồng thời có buổi làm việc với Ban Chủ nhiệm Khoa Y về các định hướng hợp tác chiến lược sắp tới giữa Khoa Y và Viện.

Chuỗi hoạt động hợp tác này góp phần khẳng định uy tín, vị thế của Trường Đại học Y Dược Cần Thơ trong lĩnh vực nghiên cứu khoa học y sinh, đồng thời tạo nền tảng vững chắc cho các hoạt động hợp tác quốc tế lâu dài và bền vững.

 

Department of Microbiology–Parasitology Hosts Delegation from The Federal Scientific Research Institute of Viral Infections (Russian Federation)

Pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 3 March 2025 between the Board of the Faculty of Medicine, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and the Federal Scientific Research Institute of Viral Infections (Russian Federation), and in accordance with working plan No. 138/KH-ĐHYDCT.KY dated 14 November 2025 on receiving and working with a delegation of experts from the Russian Federation, the Department of Microbiology–Parasitology implemented a series of intensive scientific research activities that yielded highly positive outcomes.

The working visit of the expert delegation lasted two weeks, from 30 November to 14 December, with the objective of advancing the cooperation items agreed upon in the MoU. The delegation was led by Professor, Dr. Tarek M. Itani, together with three Russian specialists in data analysis and virology research.

The central activity of this working period was the implementation of the research project entitled “Prevalence and Characteristics of Viruses Causing Acute Gastroenteritis in Children in Can Tho”. The research team was a close collaboration between the Department of Microbiology–Parasitology, clinical physicians from the teaching hospital, and the Russian expert group. The research procedures were systematically conducted, including the collection of clinical specimens from pediatric patients with acute diarrhea, sample processing and preservation in accordance with biosafety standards, viral identification using PCR techniques, and gene sequencing. The research protocol was approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee in Biomedical Research of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Preliminary results have shown promising signals, opening up significant prospects for expanding the scale of the study in the coming period.

Based on the initial research outcomes, the expert delegation conducted technology transfer activities, providing experimental protocols and standardizing laboratory techniques for members of the research group of the Department of Microbiology–Parasitology. These activities contributed to strengthening professional capacity and enabling teaching and research staff of the department, as well as the university as a whole, to progressively master advanced molecular biology techniques.

In addition to research and technical transfer activities, the delegation participated in several specialized scientific discussion sessions to review the preliminary findings and to explore future cooperation opportunities. These working sessions focused on expanding research on viral, bacterial, and fungal pathogens commonly found in Viet Nam, enhancing international scientific publications, and developing academic training and exchange programs between the two institutions.

Notably, during the visit, the expert delegation met and held discussions with Professor, Dr., MD Nguyen Trung Kien, Rector of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, on future cooperation orientations between the University and the Institute. The delegation also held a working meeting with the Faculty of Medicine’s Board to discuss upcoming strategic cooperation directions between the Faculty and the Institute.

This series of cooperative activities has contributed to reaffirming the reputation and standing of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in the field of biomedical scientific research, while laying a solid foundation for long-term and sustainable international collaboration.
