Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital

I. Introduction

The Hospital of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy is established from the decision No. 270/QD-BYT, signed on January 26^th, 2011, and with the mission to provide community based high quality medical care, especially the Mekong Delta region. The hospital is officially opened on December 30^th, 2011. The hospital is a profitable unit of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, assuring itself of its regular operation.

The Hospital of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy is approved for construction and development in 2 phases by the Minister of Health. The first phase is used with the total area nearly 8,000 square meters for the main campus at the General Services area of the University and the subclinical area. In the second phase, the Hospital will be built on a 39,000 square meters area on Nguyen Van Linh Street with a capacity of 500 beds. Currently, the Hospital is a general hospital with 250 beds, includes 23 clinical and subclinical units.

The Hospital promotes highly-advanced medical treatment such as replacement surgery, shoulder joint replacement surgery, spinal surgery; extracorporeal urinary stone lithotripsy, laser lithotripsy, plastic surgery for bladder and ureter; laryngeal microsurgery, ear microscopic surgery, sinus nasal endoscopy; thyroid endoscopic surgery, esophagectomy, gastric surgery, colon endoscopic surgery, painless gastroscopy, painless colonoscopy; vaginal hysterectomy, surgery of uterine , gynecology endoscopic. In particular, the hospital has implemented techniques such as coronary vessel intervention, cerebrovascular vessel intervention, hepatic vessel intervention, and peripheral vascular intervention under DSA, radiotherapy of intracranial tumors with gamma knives.

The Hospital has been equipped with many modern technology systems (CT-scanner, DSA, MRI, Gamma knife), tumor therapy system with high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), system of specialized function detectors (electromechanical meter, electroencephalogram meter, strenuous electroscope, DEXA central osteoporosis meter, ear, nose, laryngeal function detector), new generation gene sequencing system.
