The activities of cooperation in providing healthcare services and charities of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital include: (1) Cooperate with international volunteers to screen and perform surgery free of charge for children with congenital malformations. Up to now, over 500 children were operated and monitored for treatment; (2) Organize many medical outreach visits with medical examination and supplying free medications to thousands of poor people in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam; (3) Host many talk-show sessions providing advice and knowledge about parenting, mental health, hygiene, nutrition, first aid, etc.
The hospital of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy was established on January 26, 2011, and located at 179 Nguyen Van Cu Street, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City, Vietnam. The hospital has the mission to serve and give health care for people in Can Tho City and also in the Mekong Delta region.
The hospital of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy has been equipped with modern machines which are using for diagnosis and treatment of many chronic diseases. The CTUMP hospital has implemented the method of "X-ray mammography" to help diagnose the early stage of breast cancer with high sensitivity and efficiency. HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) Tumor Therapy System is implementing in the hospital. This therapy is known as a safe tumor treatment with remarkable effect. The hospital also implements Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) for patients with coronary diseases. Extracorporeal lithotripsy, a non-invasive method that has been widely used in recent years to dissolve urinary tract stones without surgical intervention, is also used in the hospital.
The CTUMP Hospital gathers a team of professors, doctors, nurses, clinical pharmacists and other healthcare staff with high expertise and professional skills. With the effort of the staff, the hospital provides a quick process of medical examination and treatment with high efficiency and reasonable costs. The hospital has performed techniques and complicated surgeries and rescued many patients in critical conditions.
In addition, we, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in collaborations with hospitals/ universities/ institutions and volunteer groups worldwide, have been organizing medical visits with medical examination and treatment, free medication distribution for poor people in remote areas; providing free surgery for children with cleft palate, hand and urinary deformities; and setting up mobile clinics in rural areas and schools for disabled children.
With high-quality human resource, advanced technical machines, cooperating with many domestic and foreign partners, Can Tho University of Medicine and the University Hospital have been providing healthcare services and charities for people in Mekong Delta and improving skills for the healthcare professionals.
