The Annual Events of Can Tho University of
Medicine and Pharmacy students

Students of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP) organize a great diversity of activities every year. We believe it is vital to maintain a vigorous, interesting student life by way of making and participating in many activities. Our annual events range from physical, musical and mental competition to traditional festivals at our university, for our students. All of these activities are hosted and ran by CTUMP students. During the process, our students learn a great deal of social skills and take a break from the stress of our studies.

1. Hội trại 26/3 (Youth Camp, March 26^th)

This is a special event to celebrate the foundation date of Viet Nam’s youth organization, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. With help from the Youth Union of the University and the Office of Student Affairs, CTUMP-ers enjoy the day with organized competitive traditional sports, large scale flashmob performance and a musical night with repertoire from university clubs and many associated units of Vietnamese Students’ Association from different provinces.

Every two years, the Youth Camp would expand to include overnight camping for all willing students. During this festive event, a bonfire would be lit and burn late into the night, students may take part in musical celebrations around the fire. This part of the Youth Camp is very well-liked by all students of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

2. Annual Grand Musical Performance of the University/Faculties

The Annual Grand Musical Performance is an honor event orchestrated by the University or respective Faculty. Featuring performances from student classes, sometimes joint shows of multiple classes’ cooperative efforts, these Musical Performances are always something to look forward to. Students volunteer to take time off outside of class to train together for their performances, many of which reach near the flawless quality. The best of shows, nominated by a University or Faculty-selected council of professors, win their student classes great honor and rewards.

3. Annual Sports Festival of the University.

Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy students with the great enthusiasm and spirit not only for studies, but also for sports, established the Annual Sports Festival for competition between classes, courses and departments in a variety of games. Students make teams, sometimes joint teams of multiple classes, and participate with great hype and support from classmates, for great prizes and honor among other classes in the University.

3. Freshman Welcoming Ceremony

Every year many new students begin their studies at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The family of CTUMP welcomes them with open arms, warm hearts and a blazing ceremony of music, celebrations and great activities to make all freshmen feel at home in their new study environment.

4. Chol Chnam Thmay Tết Festival of Khmer People

The Chol Chnam Thmay Tết Festival is a very important event in the Khmer People’s calendar. To celebrate this holiday, the students of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy annually prepare a large party and feast with lots of traditional dishes of the Khmer People, delicately prepared to maintain the right flavour of special Khmer food. In addition, there would be celebrations and dance with folk music of Khmer People, traditional games, and stage performances of CTUMP students describing aspects of Khmer culture. This festive event attracts many students’ participation every year.

5. For Children Club Activities.

“Vì Trẻ Thơ – For Children” is one of the most active clubs currently running at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy. This volunteering oriented reputed club receives and delivers sponsorship from companies and donation from students to children in need. The club also organizes regular trips to schools in the suburban to teach and play interactive games with children, as well as giving them necessities like milk and clothing.
