WORKSHOP ON “GUIDE TO READ AND INTERPRET AN ANTIBIOGRAM AND TREATMENT OF SEVERE INFECTIONS”

From 28th to 30th September 2019, Faculty of Pharmacy from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy hold the workshop with topic “Guide to read and interpret an antibiogram and treatment of severe infections” at Pharmacy Faculty Hall.


The workshop was hosted by the Pharmacy Faculty represented by Assoc. Prof. DUONG Xuan Chu, Assoc. Prof. PHAM Thanh Suol, with the participation of 140 members including pharmacists, doctors, and laboratory technicians. This workshop honorably had Dr. LE Minh Hung, PharmD, PhD from Texas A&M University, United States as the speaker. Texas A&M University was opened its doors in 1876 as the state's first public institution of higher learning. Nowadays, it stands as a research-intensive flagship university dedicated to sending talent leaders out into the world prepared to take on the challenges of tomorrow. 

Dr. LE Minh Hung  presented 6 chapters related to the treatment of severe infections as follows: Guide to read and interpret an antibiogram; Harm of antibiotics on Microbiome Protection System; Augmented renal clearance in critically ill patients; Antimicrobial PK & PD in critically ill patients; The 2018 Guideline for treatment of non-symptomatic urinary tract infections; Pharmacotherapy of urinary tract infections. 

The workshop was successfully wrapped up after three days, providing and sharing knowledge of updating antibiotic use in severe infections for pharmacists, doctors, and laboratory technicians. The workshop was a great success and ended with a certificate of continuous medical education for the attending participants.
