MEETING OF THE UK-VN HEP PROJECT (PHASE 2) AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY From 7th to 9th August 2019

On three days from 7th to 9th August 2019, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy held meetings and visits for universities and institutions - members of the HEP project phase 2 with the aim to learn and to develop the models of linking universities between the UK and Vietnam through exchange programs and workshops at the two countries.


Participants include representatives from the universities in the UK and Vietnam including University of East Anglia – UEA, Nguyen Tat Thanh University – NTTU, Institute of Tropical Technology – ITT, Tay Nguyen University – TNU, Thai Nguyen University of Science – TNUS, and  Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy – CTUMP.

On 7th August 2019, the first session was held at CTUMP with the attendance of more than 30 delegates from other universities with the following contents: (1) introducing members of the phase 2 HEP project; (2) discussing the detailed working contents of the next two days; (3) visiting the traditional room, Pharmacy Faculty and some places of CTUMP.

On 8th August 2019, at the morning session the UK-VN HEP members presented and discussed the implementation the videos of Vietnamese Traditional Medicine  and Medicinal Chemistry. At the afternoon session, the members discussed the following workshops: workshop on active teaching methods in December and three other educational workshops next year; also, the opportunities of the collaborations between universities and institutions of both countries (the UK and Vietnam).  

On 9th August 2019, CTUMP had a chance to organize a tour at two attractive places in Can Tho City: Cai Rang floating market and Can Tho traditional rice noodle factory. This tour aimed to introduce the cultural beauty of Can Tho city to the guests from the UK and other regions of Vietnam.

Through the meeting sessions and visits at CTUMP and in Can Tho city,  many projects and plans with specific objectives have been gradually planned and developed. The guests from the UK and other regions of Vietnam also thanked CTUMP for the warm reception and they could enjoy the cultural beauty of the captial of Mekong Delta, Vietnam. The UK-VN HEP project (Phase 2) successfully closed with many promising results.
