Visiting and Teaching of Prof. John Taylor and Dr. Ann William

From 19 to 21 January 2015, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP) had a fruitful working program with Assoc. Prof. John William Taylor, Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, University of Washington and Dr. Ann William, an oncologist, from Seattle City, Washington, USA.


The delegates were warmly welcomed by Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP), represented by Assoc. Prof. Pham Thi Tam, Vice Rector of CTUMP, with the attendance of Scientific Research and International Office, Dean board of Medicine and Public Health Faculties, Epidemiology and Oncology Departments.

Within the collaborative program, the workshop on Clinical Epidemiology was successfully held with 30 doctors and lecturers from Faculties of Public Health, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing – Medical Technology, Skill slab Unit and University Hospital, as well as the sixth year preventive medicine students. Assoc. Prof. John William Taylor gave lectures about clinical epidemiologic methodology with interesting case study and mastering the medical literature.

In addition, Dr. Ann William gave lectures about non-small cell lung cancer, chemotherapy and its side effects. The participants consisted of 15 doctors from Can Tho Oncology Hospital and CTUMP’s oncology department; 32 post graduate students from Specialist grade II, Master and Residency in Internal and Surgery training programs.
