20TH YOUTH SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE IN VIETNAM'S HEALTH SECTOR

From November 25th to 27th, 2021, the 20th Youth Science and Technology Conference in Vietnam’s Health Sector, an event of the Ministry of Health in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, was held at Hanoi National University.
The
Youth Science and Technology Conference, formerly known as the Conference of National
Medical Universities Youth for Science and Innovation, was held for the first
time in 1982. In 2020, the 20th Conference had an expansion of scale
with thirty nine participants, including academies, universities, national schools
of medicine and pharmacy; provincial-level and higher level hospitals, private
hospitals of class II or higher, and research and development institutes, the
Institute of Preventive Medicine, the Institute of Drug Testing, the National
Institute of Quality Control,... with a total of 315 scientific articles. In
addition to traditional scientific reports, the conference had technical exam
tables (hands-on practice) and English exam tables.
Attending
the Youth Science and Technology Conference for national universities and
colleges of medicine and pharmacy, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy
sent 14 young members of the faculties and students to participate, who were reporters
of the best topics selected from the University’s annual Conference of Youth in
Science and Technology. The leading delegation included: Assoc. Prof. NGUYEN
Trung Kien – Rector (Head of Delegation), M.Sc. Tran Tin Nghia, (Secretary of
the Faculty of Medicine).
Concluding
the Conference, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy was one of eight
excellent collectives that received the Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of
Health for groups with achievements in youth scientific research; and one of
eight collectives to receive the Certificate of Merit from the Central
Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. Lecturers excellently won 1
Excellent Prize, 3 Second Prizes, 2 Third Prizes and 8 Consolation
prizes; PhD. NGUYEN Minh Phuong, PhD. NGUYEN Vu Dang were 2 out of 23
individuals to receive the medal "For the young generation" of the
Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
The
conference is an opportunity for scientists, lecturers and medical students to
exchange experiences, new findings and new methods in their medical professions.
The topics and techniques evaluated in the Conference will be the basis to help
doctors and scientists develop and apply in actual practice, thereby
contributing to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment for
patients as well as the development of Vietnamese medicine.
The
21th Youth Science and Technology Conference will be held at Hanoi
Medical University. It is hoped that Can Tho University of Medicine and
Pharmacy will have many more young candidates attending, especially students,
bringing back many high achievements, which is a pride not only for themselves
but also for the University.
