THE MEETING BETWEEN CAN THO UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY WITH HANOI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, CHARITÉ – UNIVERSITÄTSMEDIZIN BERLIN AND KIEN GIANG PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL ON COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF MENTAL HEALTH
On January 28th, 2021, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy had a working session with Hanoi Medical University, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Germany) and Kien Giang Psychiatric Hospital to discuss psychiatric health issues, as well as propose exchanges of lecturers, students and the model of medical examination and treatment in the future.

University, Deputy Director of the Institute of Mental Health – connected the
project of "Developing the
Vietnamese psychiatric network" between Charité –
Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the departments of Psychiatry of Hanoi Medical University
and Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP).
Representing Can Tho
University of Medicine and Pharmacy, were Assoc. Prof. PhD. NGUYEN Van Lam,
Vice Rector; Dr. NGUYEN Thang, Deputy Head of the Scientific Research and
International Cooperation Office; and lecturers of Department of Psychiatry,
Faculty of Medicine, including: MSc. NGUYEN Van Thong, MSc. TRAN Thien Thang,
MD. NGUYEN Thai Thong.
Representing the
delegations were Level II Specialist MD. LAM Tuong Minh – Director of Kien
Giang Psychiatric Hospital; PhD. Eric HAHN and Assoc. Prof. PhD. TA Thi Minh
Tam – members of the Faculty of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Charité –
Universitätsmedizin Berlin; MSc. Resident MD. PHAM Xuan Thang – the Department
of Psychiatry, Hanoi Medical University.
Opening the meeting, Can
Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy together with Hanoi Medical University,
Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Kien Giang Psychiatric Hospital
introduced the operation and development process of each unit. The
collaboration project named “Klinik Partnerschaften”, which encompasses a variety of medical
expertises, was introduced, and a comprehensive memorandum of understanding
with Hanoi Medical University was made as part of an expanding effort in Psychiatric
Health cooperation.
Additionally,
Charité –
Universitätsmedizin Berlin proposed exchanges of lecturers, students and models
of medical examination and treatment among involved parties. All sides
concurred that the defining feature of Psychiatry is all training, research and
treatment intervention must be done with the goal of reducing prejudice in mind;
henceforth, involved parties should begin
implementing collaborative efforts, centered on the development of Psychiatric
Health, and creating memorandum for long term cooperation in the future.
