Ever since establishment,
Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy has been striving for tremendous progress in many areas, from affirming
domestic and international cooperation programs, expanding scale of education to furthering scientific research activities; the number of scientific research
projects, domestic and
international conferences, seminars and published scientific articles of the University rise
annually.
In regard to postgraduate
education, in 2019, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy included
training programs for all levels of study (Specialist Level 1 Medical Doctor,
Specialist Level 2 Medical Doctor, Intern, Masters, PhD), attracting a growing
number of graduate students over the years. In 2003, the
University trained nearly 2000 students, by 2018, that number had increased six-fold.

In
2015, CTUMP had 10 international projects; in 2019, the number of international
projects had increased three-fold with 30 projects ongoing. The average number
of projects, seminars, conferences (from 2017 until now) rose more than three
times compared with the 2003 – 2008 period. Up to the period 2015-2019, the
University had 21 Can Tho Medical and Pharmaceutical Journals, nearly 2 times higher
than the period 2010-2015 (not including 04 issues of journals published
(22-25) in 2019).

In the recent years, Can Tho University of
Medicine and Pharmacy has been developing international cooperation, and there
are many delegations come to work and study: MEET (USA), University of
Washington (USA), University of Texas (USA), Ghent University (Belgium),
HELVIETMED (Switzerland), The Netherlands, India, Indonesia, Chung Chou
University (Taiwan), International Pediatric Specialists Alliance for the
Children of Vietnam (IPSAC-VN), Mahasharakham University (Thailand),…. The
number of delegations at the University differ according to each field and
units in charge from the period
2015-2019.

In the coming years, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy shall continue to further development on the base of
accomplished achievements; in
pursuit of set goals of education
and training, scientific research,
cooperation with domestic and international institutions.
These objectives shall be the first priority in the development of the University.
