The 60th-anniversary celebration of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam - Laos

On September 4th, the Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association in Can Tho City together with city departments and agencies solemnly held a meeting to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos (September 5th, 1962 - September 5th, 2022), 45 years of signing the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation and Vietnam - Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2022.

Guests of the meeting included Mr. TAO Viet Thang - Director of the Department of Localities III, Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, and Comrade PHAM Thanh Van, former Standing Deputy Secretary of Can Tho City Committee of the Party.

On the Laos side, the meeting was honored to have Mrs. PHIMPHA Keomixay - Consul General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. NGUYEN Thuc Hien - Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, called to mind the extraordinary solidarity between Vietnam and Laos over the past 60 years. The government and citizens of Can Tho City have always identified the traditional fellowship with Laos as an important external relations factor. Over the past time, Can Tho City and Laos' localities have strengthened cooperation in many fields; organized many cultural and people-to-people exchange activities. Mr. NGUYEN Thuc Hien strongly believed that with the trustworthy leadership of the Vietnam Communist Party and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party will result in a sustainable friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

in Ho Chi Minh City.

 

During the occasion, Mrs. PHIMPHA Keomixay informed information about the socio-economic development of Laos; expressed her thankfulness for the great cooperation and the special solidarity linking Laos and Vietnam over the years, and conveyed the expectation to continue developing the relationship.

The conference carried out a range of exceptional music and dance performances performed by the City Cultural Center and the Truong Son Performing Arts Team.
