THE WORKSHOP WITH ASSOC. PROF. DUONG VAN TUYEN FROM TAIPEI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, TAIWAN

From August 10th to August 12th 2022, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy honorably welcomed and hosted the workshop with the presence of Assoc. Prof. DUONG Van Tuyen from Taipei Medical University, Taiwan. The event was aimed at disseminating knowledge about scientific research, and international publication as well as scholarship opportunities in Taiwan for the lecturers and students of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, to exchange and cooperate with the Taipei Medical University, Taiwan.


Participating in the meeting, are representatives from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, there were Assoc. Prof. NGUYEN Van Lam, Vice Rector, Ph.D. NGUYEN Thanh Tan, Vice-Rector; the Office of Science and Technology, External Relations Office and lecturers of the University.

 From Taipei Medical University, Taiwan, there was Assoc. Prof. DUONG Van Tuyen.

The overview of the workshop

In the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. NGUYEN Van Lam, Vice-Rector discussed the achievements of the developing process over the past 40 years of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy; the University has a system of modern facilities and equipment; a strong and complete organizational apparatus; the teaching staffs are professors, associate professors majoring in health sciences, leading scientists in the Mekong Delta.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof . DUONG Van Tuyen shared his own experiences with the desire to improve accessibility and innovation in medical training programs and to help the University take part in integration and training according to capacity; some opportunities to improve the culture of medical education research in Vietnam, and to form a scientific research community on medical teaching. Along with that is the support for universities in the field of health medicine in Vietnam in general and Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in particular, in order to transform the model from traditional medical education into competency-based medical education. According to Assoc.Prof. Tuyen, it is required to plan for the program renewal, recognizing the essential to train and improve the capacity of lecturers to meet the innovative requirements for the development and implementation of training programs, teaching and evaluation based on capacity. In addition, it is also necessary to develop lecturers’ scientific research skills, application of evidence medicine and leadership skills, as well as support lecturers in professional development.

The workshop between the Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy and Assoc.Prof. DUONG Van Tuyen from Taipei Medical University, Taiwan has successfully ended and contributed to building up, strengthening and expanding cooperation and improving the quality of the training process and scientific research.
