“MOBILE CLINIC FOR CHILDREN 2020” PROGRAM IN CAN THO CITY (03-09 JANUARY, 2020)

Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP) cooperated with Volunteers Around the World organization (VAW) from U.S to organize the meaningful program called “Mobile clinic for children 2020” . The succession of bringing the oppotunity to study for students from CTUMP in particular and exchange students in general. Through this program, we brought pleasure in taking care of health to children who live in remote areas in Can Tho city.


With the joining of 17 students come from U.S, 1 coordinator from Campodia, 1 Vietnamese coordinator and the enthusiastic support of students from CTUMP. Together, we are not only bring the cosy atmosphere for unlucky children, but also help U.S students have a clearly view in health care model in Vietnam.

This is the third times VAW organization coorperate with CTUMP to hold this program, after two successful times were held in 2019.

“Volunteers Around the World” organization (VAW) was established by Mark và Rebecca Stanley in 2006. VAW which is known as a humanitarian organization and social interprise, make effort in improving the living standards of people who live in the poorest communities in the world. In 2017, VAW was deployed the health access activities in Southeast Asia. Major aim is supply the oppotunities for community to access medical treatment and odontology, drugs, nutritional support, pure water and health education. Following that aim, department of unions and CTUMP’s students were support enthusiastically in translating; make a bond between exchange students and children during mission.

After 6 days work in coorperation, the program had been achieved some encouraged results. The association examined and supplied medicine for 791 patients in Can Tho city (school for disabled children in Can Tho city, Nguyen Trai secondary school, Long Tuyen 1st primary school, An Lac’s ward medicine station).

During the mission, CTUMP’s pediatric doctors and pharmacist guided and shared their valuable experience with U.S students about Vietnam’s healthcare system and the process of examining. Beside that, foreign students could join some examining activities such as exploited history of disease, got vital signs, gave patients medicine.

Sincere thanks to Volunteer Around the World organization (VAW) for bringing this meaningful program, also thanks deapartment of unions, doctors, pharmacists and students for being major parts and helping VAW organization bring this program to right place , right people, together we hold the wonderful study atmosphere for U.K students in particular and CTUMP’s students in general.
