Overview of the opening session of the International Health Sciences Conference 2022

CTUMP is a human resource training facility in the group of health sciences at undergraduate, postgraduate and continuous training levels. CTUMP joins in scientific research, technology development, combines training with scientific research, production and science-technology services in the fields of biomedicine and pharmacology; participation in medical examination and treatment. CTUMP carries out the goals of education, training, science and technology; cooperation and association with educational, medical, scientific, technological, cultural and economic organizations domestically and abroad.

          In this IHSC 2022, Assoc. Prof. PhD. NGUYEN Van Lam - Vice Rector of CTUMP on behalf of the organizing committee gave the opening speech with gratitude to the leaders, delegates, scientists and students who attended the conference; participated in the chairing of conferences and scientific reports.

During 20 years of establishment, 43 years of construction and development, CTUMP has continuously organized many conferences and seminars/workshops at regional, national and international levels. Up to now, the university has organized 03 international conferences, 05 national conferences, more than 07 regional conferences. The total number of conferences and workshops is 638. Besides, the number of scientific research subjects at all levels has increased in quantity and quality every year. From 2002 to 2022, 1174 subjects have been carried out. Many subjects are practically applied in medical units and hospitals, and used as a valuable source of scientific data for teaching and reference for students. The number of domestic articles in this period was 2,710 articles published in prestigious domestic specialized journals; in the 2017-2022 period, 270 articles were published in international journals. In 2022, Can Tho Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy became a member of Crossreff organization, from the 53^rd issue, articles of CTUMP’s journal will be attached with Digital Object Identifier (D.O.I). Especially, CTUMP always increases investment in science and technology potentials, many laboratories are equipped with modern types of equipment to respond to the needs of teaching and scientific research, for instance: PCR machines, gas chromatography systems, functional probe systems, systems of modern treatment machines.

The International Health Sciences Conference 2022 had 27 conference halls with over 390 oral scientific papers and posters in all health specialties such as: Cardiology, Endocrinology - Metabolism, Hematology - Examination Laboratory – Gastroenterology, Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases, Neurology – Urology – Nephrology, Pediatrics, Dermatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology – Urology, General Surgery – Oncology, Trauma Surgery, Otolaryngology – Eye, Medicine Traditional Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Rheumatology and Pharmacology.

The speakers are scientists from domestic and foreign medical units such as the United States, Australia, France, Belgium, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, India, Thailand, etc.  

The reporters at the conference are from domestic countries in the region and around the world

The conference’s reports were published in the Can Tho Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy, the conference's special issue. In this journal, scientific articles are attached with the Digital Object Identifier, marking the route for upgrading the Can Tho Journal of Medicine and Pharmacy to the Asean list (ACI index).

In addition, there are 135 chairmen who are the leading experts in the field of health sciences.

In the upcoming period of 2022-2025, the orientation of science and technology development is going to build CTUMP as a center for science and technology activities, technology transfer and application in the training of medical human resources to serve the health protection, care and improvement for people in the Mekong Delta region; develop scientific and technological activities up to the standards of application-oriented training institutions. Gradually expanding mechanisms to encourage staff to conduct scientific research, enhance policies to support staff publishing domestic and international research results, and orienting scientific research subjects in the direction of applied research, coordinate and support scientific research by expanding international cooperation in scientific research and application, technology transfer, and finding financial resources for scientific research activities. 

The International Health Sciences 2022 Conference of CTUMP within the framework of the festival program to celebrate 20 years of establishment and 43 year of construction and development of CTUMP. This is an opportunity to exchange and learn experiences, and also to help medical units, educational institutions in the field of health sciences, domestic and foreign colleagues access new scientific and technical achievements in the health branch, thereby encouraging the spirit of learning and scientific research in protecting, caring for and improving people's health.
